If you are locked out of your Galaxy Prevail you can try these steps to unlock the device. If you set a draw pattern and cannot remember the pattern or if you have a pin code you forgot, you can reset it if you konw your Gmail account information. Attempt the unlock at least 5 times until a message pops up. Tap OK, and then you can enter the Gmail username and password which is the first gmail account information you synced to the phone. Once you enter the information you can draw a new pattern or set a new pin code. If you are unable to remember the Gmail account information then you may have to factory reset the device which would erase all personal information on the phone. Folow these steps if you would like to factory reset the device:
Power off the handset, remove the battery if necessary.
While the handset is powered off, press and hold the Volume Up key.
While holding down the Volume Up key, press and hold the Power key.
Once you see the Android system recovery screen, release both keys.
Press the Volume Down key to scroll to wipe data/factory reset.
Press the Camera key to select wipe data/factory reset.
Press the Volume Down key to scroll to Yes -- delete all user data.
Press the Camera key to select.
Press the Camera key once the wipe is done to select reboot system now.
Solved! Go to Solution.

Yeah, once you are locked out of the device you are limited to what you can do to fix it. I think its awesome that you can reset the device in situations like this rather than have a phone that is forever locked.
