If you reset your phone to the settings that were configured at the factory, all of your
personal data stored on the phone, including information about your Google Account,
any other accounts, your system and application settings, and any applications you
have downloaded will be erased. Resetting the phone does not erase any system
software updates you have downloaded or any files on your microSD card, such as
music clips or photos.
1. On the Settings screen, touch Privacy > Factory data reset.
2. When prompted, touch Reset phone, and then touch Erase everything. The
mobile phone resets the settings to the original factory settings, and then restarts

There is a hardware reset as well.
You should remove the battery from the device and replace it, but do not power the device back on. Now press and hold Volume Up and Power, starting with Volume up, until the phone vibrates. Let go of the buttons and watch for the Android Recovery Screen. Use Volume Down to go down to Factory Reset/Wipe Data, and tap Power. You will be presented with a list of No's and one Yes - Delete All User Data. Use Volume Down to go down to that Yes entry and tap Power. When the phone says Data Wipe Complete, Use Volume Down to go down to Wipe Cache Partition and hit Power. The phone will display Wipe Is Complete almost immediately and be back on Reboot System Now. Hit Power and the phone will restart. The phone has been Factory Reset.

I have found posts that say the command also includes the Menu Button.
So Volume Up + Menu + Power for about 10 seconds or till the phone vibrates.
Then you should have access to the recovery menu.

I tried both ways: Volume up + power & Volume Up + Menu + Power keys for 10 secs but reset menu didn't come up on screen.
Finally tried: Vol Up + Home + Power
For some strange reason it worked that way!
Can somebody else please confirm it this works, it worked for me.

An associate today tried different ways to reset phone but all attempts failed.
Customer had forgotten screen pattern.
The phone was turning on almost immediately every time she tried to reset.
She finally did the following:
When phone was on
-Hold power key
-Tap on restart
-Press & hold power key + vol up while restarting
-Phone stuck on the Huawei logo
-Reset menu pop up.

Just preformed a master est for a customer in the store. If you leave the phone on and take out the battery and replace it, the phone automatically turns back on. First, turn the phone off. Then remove the the battery then pop it in, hold just volume up and power, then it viberates, release the buttons. Good to go.
